This is shitty horror at it's very best. It's cheap, it's cheerful, it's violent, it's disgusting, and it stars a kung-fu priest who "kicks arse for the lord" alongside the best zombie baby ever.
Lionel's budding romance with Paquita is ruined by the interference of Lionel's overbearing mother. That's the least of Lionel's problems though, as he has to contend with what's hiding in the basement...
Generally this film is really good. It's played over the top in every respect and it's just marvellous for it. No matter how many times you watch it, it turns your stomach and who can ever forget the lawnmower scene - possibly the bloodiest cinematic moment in history. As much as it's very funny though, it is a little slow in places and it probably could have been tightened up a little in that respect although it is one of Peter Jackson's early ones. It's well worth a watch though - one of the best.
