Jenny, a nursery teacher, and Steve, an annoying git with a strange accent, are enjoying a romantic camping trip to Eden Lake, where Steve intends to propose. However their romantic idyll is ruined by some local neds who steal their car, harass them with their dog and generally get in the way of the loving mood. After a confrontation leads to the gang-leader's dog getting stabbed, the harassment turns to torture and a deadly cat and mouse game.
This movie is irritating as hell. Neds are well annoying in everyday life and I can see why someone might want to write them as horror movie villains. But Neds are really annoying and I couldn't be arsed with them!! Just like everyone else in this film! The lead male is a self-righteous twat who basically starts the whole chain of events by wading into confrontation with the annoying Neds rather than ignoring them like the insignificant specks that most Neds are. The lead female is twee, kinda stupid and unremarkable - but is able to do things with Bluetooth that only Bond Villains are usually capable of! There is some good acting on the part of the Neds and a nasty bit involving an accidental spike through the foot (oyah!) but it's not enough. An hour into it, I wasn't rooting for the couple, I wasn't rooting for the Neds, I was rooting for the end credits. I don't understand the good write up this film got - avoid!
