Grindhouse Trailer Classics Vol. 1
I got hold of this DVD through the wonder that is LoveFilm and it's tremendous. It's not something you can really review - two hours of trailers for films full of sex, violence, gore and some rather questionable acting. It's great to watch - like a window to a type of filmmaking that just doesn't happen anymore (except when Tarentino runs out of ideas again and decides to revisit the past). A lot of the films I wouldn't mind getting hold of tho some of them just aren't available (for example, "Ilsa, She-Wolf of the S.S." is still banned in the UK). Nonetheless, it was a good afternoon spent watching trailers instead of doing what I was meant to be doing...

Also on the DVD:
Bump & Grind: A short documentary about Grindhouse Cinema presented by Emily Booth (wearing a crazily short skirt and seeming very proud of her legs - continually crossing and uncrossing like Kenny Everett in drag!). Interesting doc tho - suggests that films like Hostel & Saw (torture porn) are just revisiting the grindhouse era of Hershell Gordon Lewis et al. Doesn't sound like Emily Booth talking tho, it's too rehearsed - no wonder "Script by Stephen Thrower" according to the credits.
