My Bloody Valentine 3D
Another 're-imagining' but at least this time they've done something pretty cool with it! Ten years ago, following a mine accident caused by Tom Hannigan, son of the mine owner, Harry Warden woke up from his coma on Valentine's Day and massacred 22 people. In present day, Tom has returned to town to sell his late father's mine and it seems Harry Warden is back too, continuing the killings. Can Tom confront and lay to rest the ghosts of his past - and stop Warden before he kills again?
We went to see this one in the cinema and it was bloody marvellous! Our local cinema is Real D equipped (yay!) which means you get the bizarre grey glasses rather than the red/blue or green ones. And it's really effective. The entire audience ducked at the same time as a jaw came flying out of the screen and the flying pickaxes were just tremendous. Not sure how it will translate to home cinema but defo one to catch in the flicks if you can. It is just a typical slasher flick though with a cast you kinda hope get killed off - and a particularly blank looking lead actor in Jensen Ackles. It was never going to be one of the greats but the 3D element elevates it above its peers somewhat. As I said, I'm not sure what it'll be like watching it on the small screen (and I'll update you on that when it comes out on DVD!) but for us, it was a good fun night out and well worth a trip to the cinema.
