Saw III (2006)
In the third part of the Saw franchise, Jigsaw’s apprentice Amanda kidnaps Lynn, a fairly depressed ER doctor, in order to prolong a dying Jigsaw’s life. At the same time, revenge-obsessed Jeff has to undergo tests in order to face the man he feels responsible for his son’s death. Lynn must keep Jigsaw alive long enough for Jigsaw to see Jeff’s completion of these tests or face some fairly nasty consequences of her own.
And there’s a fair amount of twists and turns because it’s a Saw film. The traps are inventive fairly disturbing – some are proper stomach turners – and it seems to tie up the Saw story in a decently satisfying manner. It makes me wonder exactly what is to come!? But it’s not too bad. This torture porn thing still isn’t my favourite horror genre but I can see how some people might be fans of the first three anyways – they’re fairly intricately written and seem like a complete set. So far the, the Saw franchise seems to be a worthwhile pursuit.
