Set in the near future, Japan's number one reality show is hosting its first all american special. Six contestants enter the 'Danger Zone' to pit themselves against three 'Slashers' (who, according to the back of the DVD are "three of the sickest motherfuckers ever" - the language of these kids today!?) whose job it is to "hunt, chop, gut, saw and skewer whoever gets in their way". It's Big Brother gone mental - although I reckon if they started handing out weapons to Big Brother contestants it'd get way more interesting...
It's a really interesting film with lots of blood and gore. Don't go looking for great effects cos the budget was practically non-existant but that just adds to the charm. The contestants are mainly pretty irritating but the Slashers are really good fun - Chainsaw Charlie and Preacherman (both played very creepily by Neil Napier) are stomach churningly yukky and then there's Dr Ripper who's just a bit mad. The director, Maurice Devereaux has done a tremendous job with this one, gripping the viewer right to the end - although admittedly this gets a little messy and confused. Generally tho, this film is a modern classic and if it doesn't live on our DVD shelf yet then you're missin a great one!!
