Sleepaway Camp
After losing her father and brother in a nasty boating accident, Angela Baker is sent to live with her cousin Ricky and crazy Aunt Martha. In order to bring the painfully shy 14-year-old Angela out of her shell, she is sent to Camp Arawak along with Ricky one summer where she struggles to fit in with the campers and counsellors alike. But strange deaths begin to occur around the camp - leading to a rather insane climax, which is worth watching on its own!!
This was one of these films that I vaguely remembered watching when I was small (we rented it alongside some weird one involving space zombies - I remember one of the astronaut types in the other film getting his knee eaten. If anyone can name that one for me I'd be chuffed...) and was quite disturbed by it. Watching it years later, it hasn't aged very well and most of the acting is on the dodgy side. The killing scenes are good for a laugh tho, and as previously mentioned, the bizarre climax of the film - which I won't give away, even though I really want to - is worth a look itself! Mucho oddness, man!
