Sublime

The day after his 40th birthday, George Grieves goes into Mt Abaddon hospital for a routine colonoscopy only to awake in pain having instead been given a thoracoscopic sympathectomy (okay in English: he goes in for a camera up his bum and he wakes up having been given an operation commonly used to treat sweaty palms). As his post operative experiences grow ever more bizarre, George discovers secrets about the East Wing and must try to survive in a hospital where people come to die...

While this film embodies an interesting concept, it's not a particularly original one. It's kinda been done before and in less dull fashions. The truth of this movie is that the acting is fairly shoddy (Cavanagh as the main character, George, is a particular low point, here displaying all the emotional sensibilities of a cabbage in a musical statues contest), it's over-long, padded out, yawn-tastic and there are much better things to do with your time. I realise this is a dreadfully short review but I don't want to spend any more time on such a drab moment in film making. Time that might have been better spent cleaning out drains or something...
