The Burning

Starring Jason Alexander (you know - the chubby short one from Seinfeld) looking freakishly young and making his film debut, this film centres on a mistreated, alcoholic, summer camp janitor called Cropsy (so named for the giant shears he carries around). After a nasty prank by some campers goes wrong and leaves him horrifically burned and disfigured, Cropsy is confined to hospital for five years . On his release, he returns to the camp to murder and massacre anyone and everyone.

It's a slasher flick from the era of the Video Nasty: it's not the best film ever! It seems to be the poorer brother of "Friday the 13th" (released the previous year) and a lot of the plot is very similar. It's the usual early 80s slasher fare tho - you can almost guarantee that you know who's going to be killed in a disgusting manner as soon as you're introduced to the (somewhat irritating) characters at the beginning of the film. And to be fair, there is a decent amount of gore throughout the movie. It's not the worst film I've ever seen tho - I'd watch it if it happened to be on TV of a Friday night but I wouldn't suggest anybody actively seek it out.
