Wes Craven's "Scream", while responsible for a massive resurgence in the interest in horror movies, also has a hell of a lot to answer for! Left in the wake of "Scream" were some supremely shit teen slasher flicks that, frankly, were only made to jump on the bandwagon and the scripts of which should never have made the author's print queue. Occasionally, tho, we come across a wee sparkler like this one that nobody expects to be any good. This one is well worth a watch. College students Natalie Simon (Alicia Witt) and Brenda Bates (Rebecca Gayheart) are suitably scared as fellow students are bumped off in the manner of various Urban Legends - like the killer in the back seat of the car or the boyfriend tapping on the roof of the car gets hanged when the girlfriend drives off. Soon we discover that Natalie is hiding some dark secrets from her past that may have some nasty consequences.
This film is pretty good. I wasn't expecting it to be anything else other than completely shit but I was really surprised as to how much I got drawn into it and how much it held my attention. Nothing of note in the acting except the eventual killer (and I just can't mention who it is because that would really spoil it - it's worth waiting) plays deranged with great relish. This is a very good one.
