AKA: ZMD
Zombies of Mass Destruction
Port Gamble is a quiet island town - that is until a bio-terrorist attack turns people into zombies! Frida, returning to her home town after dropping out of Princeton University, and Tom & Lance, a gay couple who are in town to tell Tom's mother he's gay, must try to survive the infection whilst battling mistakenly racist neighbours and homophobic churchgoers on a mission to save gay souls.
This film is one of those rarities in the world of shitty horror that's both intelligent and laugh-out-loud funny. My only real qualm is that the filmmakers didn't quite take the political incorrectness far enough! The acting is strong and the ideas are hilarious - the redneck neighbour who doesn't know the difference between Iraqi and Iranian people is a particular gem, as is Reverend Haggis who believes he can 'turn' gay people straight in a Clockwork Orange style - but I feel the makers could've pushed a little further with the outrageousness. Saying that, it's still a cracking wee number and I totally recommend it.
And watch out for the 'Little Lost Girl' character Lisa. She owns the funniest part of the film!
