The Haunted House of Horror (1969)
Set in the sixties (and tremendously retro in appearance and style), a group of bored young, swinging types leave a party to visit a supposedly haunted house. It’s all good fun till one of the group is brutally murdered, possibly by one of the others. And since some of them have previous convictions, they make the (odd) decision to hide the body, which causes turmoil within the remaining group.
An early slasher flick that uses what appears to be thinned red paint for blood. It’s all good fun really. Acting caliber is fairly representative of the time period – as is the practice of using pop stars of the time as actors (Frankie Avalon in a rather forgettable turn as Chris, the party host). It’s not really worth seeking out but if you catch it on TV and there’s nothing else on then it’s not too bad - quite charming really but nothing of substance.
